The hovering spirit of Aether joins earth, fire, air, and water – an enduring ancient myth.
Materials: brass tube, bronze rod, copper wire, winterstone
Dimensions: 45″h x 10″w x 10″d
Akasha was born from a series of small maquettes made as a preliminary idea for a bamboo project. I used brass tubes and bronze rods to simulate bamboo culms and create a tall structure. Several bronze rings, patinated blue, were used as floaters appearing as fluid ether pervading the space. Red hot endings (wrapped in copper wire) of hanging rods appear suspended. The main three rods are attached to a base made of colored winterstone cement.
